Many many years ago, I played around with shooting in the studio- my first newspaper job had a built in studio, and the other photographers and I would test out different lighting ideas and poses- just to learn and have fun. I realized then how much I loved the creativity and magic that happens in the studio, but my career took me down a different road. I stopped shooting studio sessions for almost 10 years, instead focusing on using natural and on location lighting setups. But 6 months ago when I decided to move into a studio location in downtown Fayetteville to give myself a quiet place to work and meet wedding clients, I dove back into studio shooting again. And remembered how much I love it.
Avery and Rachel came in to the studio a few weeks ago for their maternity session, and I felt so inspired by the images we made. The studio is such a timeless, elegant look that I love.
Of course, we also went outside to the lake, to shoot some natural light portraits as well- an environment I feel so comfortable in. We were able to capture so much variety in this session, and I had the most stunning models to work with, which made my job easier 🙂 Rachel and Avery are expecting twin baby girls any day now- and I can’t imagine a better Christmas gift.
