I’ve noticed how my photography has changed since I became a mother more so in these photos of Dibor and her family than ever before. On my first wedding back from maternity leave, I was surprised at how the mother/son dance almost made me tear up while I was shooting. I could picture myself in that moment 25 years from now- the pride, joy, and even a bit of sadness you must feel as you give your son away to his bride. Before I had my baby, these moments were all just a part of doing my job. Now, as I edit, I can see the deeper connection I have to the photos that show the bond between parents and their babies- no matter how old those babies have become. Images where the child may not have a big glittering smile on their face might have become outtakes 9 months ago. Now I see them as equally important images- showing who our families really are- in all their beautiful, not-so-perfect moments.
